Meta description and keywords is missing

I am trying to optimize my website for search engines, but i faced several problems.

I wanna use differet titles, meta description and keywords tags for each page. So in SITE>Global configuration> i didint wrote global description and keywords, but i left it blank and made them for each article in Article manager>"Example">Metadata information>. However, when i view my 'page source' later on, this is what i see:

<meta name="keywords" content="" />
<meta name="description" content="" />
...
Why there is no content? When i write global description and keywords - everything is fine, but when i write it for each article - there is no description nor keywords.

Actually, i have an idea what's wrong - today i tried to use SEF Service Map 2. I checked it, tested, but i decided i do not need it so i uninstalled this extension. (there is possibility to add different description and other meta tags for each article through it)

Have anyone any ideas how can i solve this problem? Ofcourse, i could try to install SEF Service Map 2 again and use it, but maybe there is any other ways?

Also i am interested in differences between <title></title> and <meta name="title" content="Your page title">. Anybode knows what's the differences between them and which should i use for SEF website?

Despite reading several SEO blogs for multiple years I had never heard of the <meta name="title" content="Your page title"> tag!

To quote another author who wrote on the subject: "Use the <title> tag for your page title. Don't bother with a <meta name="Title"> tag." (http://themeaningofweb.[URL banned].com/200 ... -tags.html)

Hi there,

I have a similar problem on my site http://www.transportation-costarica.com/. Meta data is set individually for each article but the meta tags in the source code are empty. Global meta data is not set.

The site is built on joomla 1.5.15, Windows, Apache, PHP 5, mySql 4. Components used in this site are Breezingforms, XMap, JCE ADmin, SEF Service Map.
I have a similar page with Joomla 1.5.13 where the articles have individual meta data and they are working fine.
Is there any solution to this problem? Could anybody point me to any direction where to find a hint? Please!

Well, i use "Tag Meta" component. With it you can set title, description and keywords. And when i use this components - everything works fine

I had a look at different meta tag components but hoped to be able to reestablish the standard meta tag functionality of Joomla. I guess I will need this workaround.

Hi,
I did dealed with unused meta tags article on page article. Instead, show the general meta tag (backtend settigs-general).
But I came to that, if chosen as the type of menu items "appearance blog categories" does not apply to meta tags article, but gereral meta. Enough to choose "view as article" and meta tags started working as they should.
