can anyone teach me how to optimize my home page

Hi, i am trying to optimize my home page to let google know that it is a lifestyle magazine but i am not sure what i am doing wrong. My site is www.in2town.co.uk can anyone please give me some input on what i am doing wrong.

make sure SEF and URL rewriting are enable plus consistent meta tag and description are on every-page and some tools on SEO extension are also helpful.

Good structure also works - use Header tags within the natural flow of the articles. I often use H3 and H4 to emphasise sentences both to the reader and Google.
That said there are limits on how far you can keyword individual pages. After that you need to get some good links coming to your site that are relevant. For example we have just opened an IT support service in Richmond, London and are trying to get links from local Richmond businesses.
