Spiders not picking up content

Post by csu1336 » Thu Jun 13, 2013 5:26 pm

We've got a site in Joomla 1.5.26 on the rt_momentum_j15 template. When spidered the only content that is read by Google is something about browser configuration (which is not anywhere on the page) and anything that's in the footer. The actual page content doesn't show up anywhere. Looking across the web at some other sites this appears to a not entirely uncommon problem with this template. Has anyone heard of this? Is there a way this, upgrading, some setting I don't know about? Moving to a new template is pretty much out of the question. I've tried all I know, I'm sort of at a loss.

The site has been up for almost a year, it's actually ranking for some keywords (not off of content In my opinion). I'm open to any and all suggestions.

Something is going wrong.
I see the message:

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access / on this server.
Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

This message probably is related with file permissions.
Permissions must be:
folders 755
files 644 except configuartion.php -> 444

However, I see 14 pages of your website on Googe index.

Did that message come up when you tried to spider it? Web Confs has locked us out from spidering that site, may have happened to you as well.

Google is indexing the actual pages themselves and their title tags, but not the actual content on the page. I didn't know the file permissions had anything to do with showing content. I'll check it out
