Canonical URLs How?

Post by webg » Wed Jun 26, 2013 2:38 pm

I have a clients website that is Joomla 1.5 based and I need to fix the duplicated content without changing the urls (I mean not to use any SEF component), I'm looking for canonical urls solution?

Can you help me please! Thanks!

I don't think there is any way to do it without using a tool like sh404sef. If you find a way to do it, I'd love to hear about it.

Please check this out http://www.concept-br.de/blog/canonical-tag-for-joomla/ I installed it in Joomla 1.5 and i think it's working properly.

For both urls:

index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=52&Itemid=60
index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=52

It always returns: <link rel="canonical" href="http://example.com/index.php?option=com ... &Itemid=60" />

For now this is the only thing I found that works properly for me!

Thanks for the update. I did not know about this script. I'll give it a try.

You can specify a canonical URL in two ways:

Add a rel="canonical" link to the <head> section of the non-canonical version of each HTML page.
