advanced url rewriting question

Post by canardesign » Thu Nov 13, 2014 1:42 pm

Hi !
I'm working on an existing Joomla 1.5 website. Among the changes I was asked to perform I had enable SEF and Apache rewrite mod. These are working as expected excepted for one specific use case: I have chronoforms and chronoconnectivity installed, the site-wide form (with GET method) allows to select among different missions and displays the selected mission's details using chronoconnectivity. I couldn't manage to have a clean url for this display so I created a hidden menu item with an alias (mission) and redirected to it on submit. To this point everything's ok ! I get this kind of URL :

Code: Select all

/mission?projet=50
.
The problem is that I would like to have something like this :

Code: Select all

/mission/name-of-the-project
. I can get the project's name by querying the database, but

where?
how?

I must say I'm lost !
Thank you for helping.

Sounds like you need a SEF extension that allows you to add alias' to urls.

It will be in the router.php of the extension.

Thank you for the tips !
@Per Yngve Berg : actually, I tried to write a router.php for chronoconnectivity but with no success, not sure how to do it, though I read http://docs.joomla.org/Supporting_SEF_U ... _component...
@dpacadmin : which SEF extension do you have in mind ?

sh404SEF AceSEF JoomSEF
The only one I have used and I know has alias' is sh404SEF but it is a subscription extension.
The issue is that most extensions that don't supply a plugin for any of the popular SEF extensions(Chrono included) end up using the Joomla SEF router anyways. I haven't found a sh404SEF plugin for Chronoforms on their site.
I did find in their forums that someone had created a sh404SEF plugin for Chronoforms in Joomla3, it may be adaptable to Chrono v4 for Joomla 1.5.19 and higher;

Thanks a lot Batman, don't know if I 'll eventually win but you've guided me to the right direction. If I ever manage to do it I won't fail to share my solution for others.

Wouldn't it be better to use your efforts in upgrading the site instead of adapting to an expired version of Joomla?
The document you followed is for 2.5/3.x. Addapt to the 1.5 api.
