Yes, definitely you can build sites in Tamil using Joomla!

As long as the database's collation sequence is UTF-8, everything should be OK. Also, check what is the collation sequence in all the tables and the columns of the database that is being used with Joomla!

To show the contents in Tamil, you have to create a content in Tamil.

What could help you typing in Tamil is Transliteration of Google (http://www.google.com/transliterate/urdu). A better way would be to install and use the IME (http://www.google.com/ime/transliteration/) from Google. Once installed, this software could be used not only with Joomla! but in any place where you could type (e.g., mail, document, spreadsheet).

The extension Indic Writer (http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... tent/10943) would be of help too.

To get the Joomla! messages and the core extension's text in Tami, install the Tamil Language pack from http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/jtrans ... ge_id=5893.
