Registering your Joomla! User Group, Association, Club ....

  We are very happy to announce that Open Source Matters now has a  process set up for registering Joomla! User Groups. Among other things, this will be used to create a searchable directory of such groups.

If you are running a Joomla! user group, organization, association or anything else for Joomla! users or fans, or are in the process of creating a new one, please come on over and read our FAQ and then register.

hi, i tried to register joomla user group nigeria. I tried several times actually....
I did not get any feedback that my form was submitted.
Have you seen my entry (s)... the actual name we want is joomla user group nigeria. .... ignore all the others incase they were all submitted.

1. Where to find information on what advantages or disadvantages does Joomla have over other packages (for example Typo3).

2. How to find a local Joomla people or groups? I tried looking around this forum but could not find anyone specifically from Canada or Calgary in particular.

3. Is it possible to find on this forum Joomla developers to discuss some possible projects?

Currently there is not a JUG in Calgary. There is one for Toronto. It just takes a few from Calgary to start a JUG Calgary. Hopefully, some Joomla! Calgarians will come out of the woodwork and start one. I live in Quebec City, but have lived in Calgary for 16 years, and my kids were born in Calgary, so we are very attached to Calgary. Great city!!! Looking forward to getting to know you.

3. Is it possible to find on this forum Joomla developers to discuss some possible projects?

I registered my group back in early June 2009 and still it does not appear in the Joomla User Group list at community.joomla.org. I also received no email confirmation after registering. I let Elin know (via IM) that I registered the group, and she indicated it sometimes can take a while. Well, she's right about that!

to be able to trace any JUG or domain name request we need to have a reasonable idea of what to look for.
eg
the name of the JUG you registered, the full name of the person registering it or the website URL.

I registered the JUG of Northern Virginia in the spring of 2009. Nothing has happened yet. As a result, our membership is stalled at about 20. Good luck!

it is CORRECT. jdam(main contact) and guilliam(secondary) are the contact.
