Suggest sticky message: global map of JUG locations.
Hi. Am I missing something, or is there any global map for JUG locations? I am new here and wanted to find a Joomla user group in the New England area. But it is rather tedious as the JUG subforum is a disorganized list of threads. There is no way to search for a nearby JUG because there is no predicting what town or state the JUG might be named for. It might be nice if a sticky message in the JUG subforum referred clearly in its title to a map with dots showing each existing JUG.

Re: Suggest sticky message: global map of JUG locations.
Thank you again InSquare.
But my local JUG seems to have only 14 members, one of whom judging by his photo is a longhaired dog, and their last meeting in May 2010.
So perhaps after all the best way to find the nearest "seriously active" JUG is to read the titles of the first two pages of the "thread index" of this subforum. Any JUG that is not on those first two pages is perhaps not worth the bother.
Or perhaps I might as well get a directory of Joomla installations and join those online communities that have the most common interest with myself, wherever in the world they may be. After all, there may be an inherent contradiction to a community for the purpose of meeting people who are installing software for the purpose of not needing to meet people.
Unless for some reason I just want to see what a real-live Joomla user looks like in person. Then perhaps I should contact each of the 14 members of my local lackluster JUG and set up a meeting at an all-you-can-eat buffet, hoping to catch two or three. But whose only common interest will be Joomla and the buffet, because for example I might not be interested in poodle grooming.
Or perhaps I can just look in the mirror.

What area are you looking for, i ca perhaps get the jug leader to email them or the jug leaders group for a direct contact.
not all jugs are active on the jug directory (unfortunately)
