Editors stripping out code :(

Postby TikkiRo » Fri Aug 29, 2008 3:30 pm

I've tried multiple searches on this but not getting the parameters right :( .

I run a church website and have a small flash code snippet inserted on one page for a daily bible verse. However, in order to undertake any work on the page that's on, I routinely have to switch to "No editor" otherwise, the code routinely gets stripped out requiring me to go and revise the page each time. Is there any way to prevent this routinely happening as I really don't like working in a coding environment if I can help it as it's so much slower for me? Or perhaps there's a good "chunky" editor (similar to TinyMCE etc) that would enable me to have both functions i.e. WYSIWYG editor and flash code working together?

Try using JCE with the right parameters.

Nope have tried that one before and just again now and same thing - not sure what you mean by right parameters but the Flash code has to be put into the source so not much I can do to enter it any differently unless I'm missing something else?

And in case it's something within the code I'll provide it here for review:

<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,0" width="300" height="190" id="votd" align="middle">
<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />
<param name="movie" value="http://www.biblegateway.com/usage/votd/votd.swf" />
<param name="quality" value="high" />
<param name="bgcolor" value="#ffffff" />
<embed src="http://www.biblegateway.com/usage/votd/votd.swf" quality="high" bgcolor="#ffffff" width="300" height="190" name="votd" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" />
</object>
----------->>

Appreciate your input anyway. 8)

I have the same issue with a video library that I have on a site. My work around is to create a second super administrator profile with no editor. All work done with that content category is done with that profile. No switching settings.
Still searching for the answers.... www.HarperVance.com

Had the same issue.
Read and followed all of the great responses - to no avail.
Got rid of jce. Tried a different editor.
Tried changing user groups, blacklisting, whitelisting, article parameters.

Nothing.

Finally figured out I had jhackguard installed.
If you have this, or a similar product to protect your site from sql injections, attacks, etc. you can turn off the plugin - put your code in - save it - then turn your protections back on.

Not sure if anyone else had a similar difficulty when all the other troubleshooting efforts failed, so wanted to share.

Thanks to everyone out there making Joomla so great!!!!!!!!!!
