Re: Adobe CS5 and Joomla Template Creation/Editing

I have to say I'm a little disappointed with DW CS5. I understand the ins and outs of article content being DB sourced etc. etc. etc. but for whatever reason I thought CS5 would help us accomplish more. In a perfect world, we should be able to develop an entire Joomla! site in DW no?

Ideally we would be able to make article and module updates and even configurations from DW - in a sense manage all of our Joomla! interactions from DW. I personally would prefer not to have to login to the backend of Joomla! to add content if DW would assist me with it. I understand plugin integrations etc. can become complex but at the least provide article editing access?

I spose it is a lot to ask and then Adobe would have to do the same for Drupal and Wordpress too. I tend to use DW more as a syntax highlighting tool and FTP client and nothing more. I'm not a fan of drag and drop and I agree with some previous posts that we really should be coding by hand and only using DW to make hand coding more efficient.

I'm sad today :( having just now gotten round to seeing what CS5 DW might do for me - I had high hopes ... maybe CS6? I just don't see much different with CS5 DW other than their integration of a CS Live functionality in an attempt I spose to bring in monthly income. Don't get me wrong I'm a fan of DW since it's Macromedia days and Adobe also, I just had hopes for something more.

I'll stop blubbering now :)

:pop Interesting forum post though and long live Joomla!

Make Joomla! 2.5 Templates in an easy way. Just use this extension to build your template together of different objects presented in the tab at the top of Dreamweaver.
