Suggestion regarding intro and full article images

To Whom It May Concern,
I just have one suggestion. Right now, in joomla 3.8.x there's no setting to make the intro and full article images required. May I suggest that for each category, administrators could have the ability to make those images required? For example, if I have category 1 and category 2. If I save an article to category 1, I get a message that the intro image is required, but, if I save it to category 2, that image is not required?

I suggest this because, in my experience, there are extensions to create slide shows of articles (using either the intro image or the full article image) on the home page, and you can select the categories of articles you want displayed. It stands to reason, then, that the administrator might want to make sure that when users add articles to those specific categories, those image fields are required to be filled out, but, not necessarily for all categories. Right now, unless I go and edit the xml file, I can't make it required at all (and that change always gets overridden when I update the joomla core files).

That's actually an interesting idea. I'm surprised nobody has followed up on that.

I would take it to its logical conclusion though, which is to have a category level control over required fields for elements assigned in that category. The problem arises when an article is saved to category 1 with category 1 requirements, but then is later re-assigned to category 2....

If you can contact me directly, I'd like to discuss what you envision for this type of field requirement. I'm always writing extensions (I've got over 50 in the JED at this moment) - I can see how this would be beneficial in a lot of different ways.
