1. the ability to make a menu item when creating a S.C.A. without having to go to seperate places.

2. Do you mean file permissions?

If so, I might just add that if you use a 'good/reasonable' host who run suphp or equivalent, you should hardly ever 99% of the time need to reset any permissions, let alone all your permissions.

If SCA = Section Category Article and something like this is what you mean http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... itors/7191

Then yes it would be good to be able to create Sections, Categories and menu Items when creating an Article.

as we know permissions can go odd, so a quick reset is possibly usefull

Cool :)

It's interesting to see how difficult is to set up a easy-to-use menu system ...

Wordpress are really struggling over their new one and may abandon it entirely.

Drupal just really doesn't have one apart from empty boxes for links.

Still, menu links from articles is a good idea. The menu area always confuses newbies we work with.

Creating section and categories with articles? that would be a definite boon! its really frustrating to have created the article, then realising sections and categories were not created!
BTW, i wasnt around the time of Joomla 1.0 but if this feature was available there, i wonder why was it dropped!!!

There are a couple of security-related extensions that will identify bad file/folder permissions and reset them for you. GuardXT and RS Firewall are two. It also would not hurt to learn how to do this in SSH. Filezilla can do it for you as well, but it takes forever.

I would second this. It took me several days as a newbie to figure this out.

How about just having the ability to manually type a Section / Category into the filter boxes, when you create the article. Similar to how you can type in a module position into the module box.
Thanks,
