[STARTED] Joomla in the Media

Post by alledia » Tue May 11, 2010 11:36 am

This thread is designed to be the successor to this from early 2007:
http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=381&t=127912

We're looking for articles about Joomla that have appeared in major media outlets.

Examples of things that qualify:
- Articles in printed newspapers and widely distributed magazines
- Posts on popular and well-established websites
- News about major websites using Joomla

How to submit articles
1) Simply post details in this thread with a link it at all possible
2) If you'd like the article to be considered for round-up blogs on http://community.joomla.org please also submit to this form: http://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform ... LUtsTnc6MQ (it's just much easier to keep on top of submissions that way

I think this is what you meant to post, right? ;)

Tesco using Joomla:

The extra place is simply a request to make it much easier to produce round-up posts at the end of the month.

I would have done but the self promotion rules would have forbidden me posting the link to my own blog ;)

Great initiative Steve, thanks.

BTW, Brian/@all, around here we like to keep things positive and on topic. See: http://community.joomla.org/blogs/commu ... ility.html Our forum rules have served us well, and besides, this thread is not here to discuss how the forum rules are curtailing your contributions to Joomla.

Though Joomla was not actually mentioned in the article, hardware company Core Optics (site at http://www.coreoptics.com/) was purchased by Cisco Systems for $99 million dollars. We did a large redesign for them a while back as a subcontractor for Mad Dog Design, who built the initial website. This is a great example of Joomla being used by a very, very large company and provides proof that "doing the landscaping and vacuuming the carpets" is always a good idea when you are on the auction block!

You can view the article on Tech Crunch below:

http://www.techcrunchit.com/2010/05/20/ ... n-in-cash/

@ mods -

Self promotion rules ought to be relaxed for this forum to encourage people to submit examples. People will be more willing to submit examples of sites they were involved with 8). Just my two cents.

Joomla.... woo hoo!

Hey hathwaytech and others - thanks for the links, we can probably make a self-promotion exception in this thread.

http://coreoptics.com is just the kind of site we're looking for

Maybe not such a good one as they dont even know they are running Joomla. See their developers web site who do everything they can to hide the fact they use joomla.
