Need help with creating an account at people.joomla.org

I tried to create an account at people.joomla.org, but I got this message instead "User registrations is disabled in Joomla". Is this a permanent thing or is going to be enabled anytime soon? Any assistance will be much appreciated.

you are correct that registration is disabled. as for the duration, i do not know.
