Public ONLY content?

Post by whycali » Fri Aug 27, 2010 6:54 pm

I'd like to show a module to Unregistered users ONLY (hidden from registered users) and can't figure out how to do it. Can someone please enlighten me?

Scenario: A custom HTML module reminding visitors to register on the site. Once someone registers (and logs in), they shouldn't see the module.

Thanks!

You could try the following extensions:

(a) Option 1

You could try to use the extensions:

HideShow to Guest - http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... tion/10439

HideShow to Login (http://ribafs.org/portal/joomla/69-modu ... eshowlogin).

(b) Option 2

You could consider using the extension MetaMod (http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... ntrol/3391) which could do both the functions at the same time.

EDIT:
Are you asking this question for Joomla! 1.6? I did not looked into the forum where the question is asked. So, answered having Joomla! 1.5.x in mind.

I would think you could create a custom access level and only only have public users set at that access level. When you create your module, you set access at the custom access level.

I tried this out and it doesn't work. I don't know if that would work for sure and I think the access levels might be bugged. When I created a new access level and gave all groups access, I still couldnt see the module.

I will do some more experimenting when I get time to see what's up.
