can't turn off html filtering for modules?

This board for support questions on Joomla 1.6 RC (= Release Candidate - which should NOT be used on a production server) is NO longer active because Joomla 1.6.0 has been released.

can't turn off html filtering for modules?

Post by teapotbag » Mon Jan 03, 2011 11:02 pm

I just downloaded Joomla 1.6 RC1 and I'm trying to build a new site in it.

I need to insert an iframe into a custom HTML module, but joomla keeps stripping the iframe tag, no matter what. Turning off the WYSIWYG editor doesn't do the trick.

I've found the solution for how to turn off blacklist filtering in the article manager, but this applies only to articles. I can't find where to do it for the modules?

Is this a known bug or am I missing something?

I think you will need to wait until the final version is out the 6.0, until then I don't think is a good reason to bother...Wait just a little bit more, Version 6.0 is almost out...

Meh... that sucks. The thing is I have to make this site now, but since the 1.6 is so nearly done, I'm reluctant to make it in 1.5 and then have to migrate to 1.6 later...

I'm considering sticking with 1.6 and for now entering those bits of html through phpmyadmin... but then if they don't solve this issue even by then...

do you know if this is reported somewhere as a bug already?

Oh wait I found the bug report
http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/joomla ... m_id=22035

and there seems to be a patch available
http://joomlacode.org/gf/download/track ... 2035.patch

and it seems to work! :D

But obviously it only works in the way that completely disables html filtering for modules. Which is fine for me, as I'm the only person administering the site, I don't need protection from myself posting malicious code into my modules. It's still not a solution for people who actually need html filtering, because with this patch it can't be turned on and off as you like. I guess this is why it's not been included in the RC1, they'd have to add a whole extra menu in the module manager options...

but I really hope they sort it out for the final. I'd hate to have to reapply this patch with every update.

I don't mind personally build websites in Joomla 1.5.22, I still do it a lot....But everyone has different opinions on that...I am glad you found a solution...Good Luck

If your Joomla 1.6 keeps stripping out some code from your Articles like when you embed [youtube] Videos or iFrames, you will need to disable Text Filters inside the Article Manager.

Go to Menu --> Article Manager

Inside the Article Manager click on the top right corner inside Options.

When you get inside Options, you will need to find the Text Filters tab.

Inside the Text Filters tab go all the way down and inside Super Users choose No Filtering.

Good Luck..
