Unable to login Administrator page (backend)

Hello,
Sorry I'm new to this forum, and not very familiar with Joomla. I did build one site many many years ago. But fairly inactive since then. My ex-wife asked me to have a look at her web site dchconsultants.com
We are getting 404 error:
404 - Article #69 introuvable

I suspect her Joomla version is too old and not supported/compatible anymore. My plan was to connect with the Admin mode, see the error and upgrade but Admin user id is not working without any error message. I tried to add a new Admin userid and I have the same behaviour.

What do yo think ?

Regards,

The only way to reset/change a super user password is through the method(s) outlined here: https://docs.joomla.org/How_do_you_reco ... assword%3F.

You would need full access to the hosting account to access the database via phpMyAdmin.

It could be simply that the article linked to the menu designated as "Home" no longer exists, or is unpublished.

Hello, sorry I might need some experienced advice. My ex-wife asked me to help her with her website. My guess is too old running with an unsupported version of Joomla, PHP.
I'm unable to connect to backend, no error just doesn't do anything. Possibly because everything is too old.
Website is returning 404 (article can,t be find).
What are my quick and dirty options ?
Otherwise, I will save DB, install the proper version of Wampser, PHP, Joomla on my laptop. Import DB, verify everything on my machine and then FTP components.
Thanks

Your method seems fine - using WAMPServer on a local computer.

With Wampserver you can safely test older PHP, so perhaps that's what the site requires. You can install PHP as old as 5.6.40 (if the site is that old) or early 7.0.x/7.1/7.2 versions and all later releases and switch between them as needed. I assume you already have this link: https://wampserver.aviatechno.net/.

The best way to copy the site back to the live host is with Akeeba Kickstart, using a backup archive made with Akeeba Backup.

404 usually could indicate an issue with permalinks in the .htaccess file that just needs to be uncommented or corrected.
