separate read/write to database

Postby umarzuki » Sun Feb 14, 2016 6:01 am

On a multimaster database setup like galera, is it possible to separate database read/write access?

Any document/example that I can read regarding this?

What do you mean by separating database reads and writes? You mean writing to one database and then reading from another? If that's the case, then I think the only option is to do a core modification in the Joomla database library - I can't think of an extension that currently does that (I'm also not sure that an extension "can" do that, but I might be wrong).

this in the case of using multimaster replication of database e.g.: galera

I read from an article that this is to avoid deadlock

haproxy, designate which server to read from
admin will manually open only a specific server to write

will that work for you?

FYI, I'm not using haproxy anymore after we revamped architecture a year ago.
