Can't log in to (old) Joomla site 2.5.11 - Pt. 1

Thank you to anyone who reads and answers this!

I'm currently working for a Charity who (alongside a working, maintained main Wordpress site) have a very old training module built with Joomla in 2014.

Today the charity contacted me to say they couldn't access the training site, there was a database connection error.

After searching forums I changed MySQL to MySQLi and was able to see the site page. Unfortunately all content is now hidden, with no users having access to the modules.

I tried to log in through the /administrator page but there I got the refresh-to-blank error. If I try to log in with invalid credentials I get the login error, but if I use any of the working accounts I just get a refresh of the login page.

I've tried several fixes but most of these pertain to the password of the Super Admin, whereas I suspect this isn't the issue because both the admin and non-admin accounts are 'working' in that they don't return an error.

I've installed and checked the Forum Assistant file and the results are beyond me. I know Wordpress but I've never built a Joomla site. I'll post the results below and if anyone can see anything that might help I'd really appreciate a message.

I'm new to this forum so please excuse me if I paste too much, or don't edit out certain details. I'll know for next time! I've split the results into two parts because of the 20000 character limit.

I'm very aware that the problems are likely to stem from the fact that this is an old install that hasn't been maintained at all.

You can't upgrade it when the php is 7.0.25

Suggest you set up Wamp on localhost and copy the site to it before attempting an update. But the site is that old it will probably be quicker to build a new one on a fresh Joomla 3.8.2
