How to change the title of website ? Where is the HTML file located ?

Post by paddy32810 » Wed Aug 29, 2018 9:11 am

Hello,

I'm basically trying to edit the title of my website. When I search for my business on google, this is what appears :
Image

I want to modify the "jamessanders.fr" that appears as the title of the search result. I would like to put "James Sanders Photographe Mariage Lyon"

So I searched on the internet and it says you can modify this here : https://brandyourself.com/blog/wp-conte ... tletag.png

I need to open the HTML file but I can't find it (I searched in FileZila and PHPmyadmin). As you can see I am not an expert in these matters, however if you can help me that would be great.

I tried searching the joomla administrator space but couldn't find a parameter in the general settings where you could do this.

Thank you for your time,

Make sure the Template's index.php contains (in the <head></head> tags) <jdoc:include type="head" />

Also isn't there a general setting in joomla to set the title of the website ?

There is. See Site Name option in Global Configuration. You already have it set to James Sanders Photographe Mariage Lyon but the problem is that it's inserted twice on your front page. Perhaps your default menu item has the same title?

Ok I fixed that.

This is what I have set in global options : https://i.imgur.com/tr2geAF.png. I used to have "James Sanders Photography"

My question is : Why doesn't google put "James Sanders Photographe Mariage Lyon" as the title of my website when doing a google search ?

The index.html is to prevent empty directories (of badly configured servers) from showing a list of directories.
The index.php is an active file that is (or should be) read first.

/templates/(your-default-template/index.php is the file that should contain (in the <head></head> tags) <jdoc:include type="head" />.

The site name (if set in Global config) and menu 'Title Alias' are included in the page Title. The page Title can be overriden by the 'Browser Page Title' field (page display tab).

Additional information.
Meta data in an Article overrides that of it's menu items. In all other instances (except when blog menu item state use Article settings) the menu settings override the Article settings.

Because your title is duplicated on the frontpage. It reads "James Sanders Photographe Mariage Lyon - James Sanders Photographe Mariage Lyon". Google will not display this.

from the screenshot we can see that the problem is located in the last field of the SEO settings on the right hand side. The option include sitename in page title is set to no. Fix that and your problems are solved
