Assistance in updating a article with read more breaks

General questions relating to Joomla! 2.5. Note: All 1.6 and 1.7 releases have reached end of life and should be updated to 2.5. There are other boards for more specific help on Joomla! features and extensions.

Assistance in updating a article with read more breaks

Post by Samanthah » Mon May 06, 2019 11:16 am

Good afternoon

I read the FPA and am so sorry, but for the life of me cannot work out how to complete the installation, that being said, I truly do need help.

I have been tasked with updating the Our History text on our website, but it has Read More breaks and I have no idea how to update the content.

Could you perhaps share with me how I can complete the task.

Thanking you in advance.

Regards
Sam

Do you have administrative access to the site backend?

Do you see error messages or just want to get information how to edit?

Which editor are you using?

This tutorial may help: https://docs.joomla.org/Splitting_an_Ar ... _read_more

BTW, if your site uses Joomla 2.5, it is an obsolete version, which is out of support.

I read the FPA ...
Sorry. What exactly did you read? Did you download the FPA zip file to your PC? Did you extract the documentation from the zip file? Did you read the documentation (it's a PDF file)?

The fpa is not installed. You download the zip file unzip it and upload fpa_en.php.

As for the text it could be in a module or be part of the Template.

Just info on how to edit, thank you, will have a look at the tutorial. We are using 2.5 and are in the process of upgrading.

If it is a 3rd party extension where the text is then running the fpa and posting the results will help us tell you where to look.

If you are having problems running the fpa then you will have problems migrating Joomla. Suggest you get professional help.

Hi, I read the tutorial, and it's helpful in the sense that it tells you how to create this article, but doesn't tell you how to update an existing one. Is there a possibility that I could send you a mail perhaps with the issue that I am experiencing?

It is accessed (for edit) from the same place as a new Article is created. If it is not a standard Joomla Article then it could be a 3rd party extension. Posting the results of the fpa will help us help you.
