Intranet site - mysql error after 5 years!

Post by nigelj » Wed Jul 17, 2019 7:57 am

We have a small intranet site running Joomla 2.5.24, on older versions of Apache (2.4.4), PHP (5.5.11) and mysql (5.5.32) via XAMPP 1.8.3. The site has run without any issue for 5 years (nothing has been upgraded because it has run fine), until this morning we're seeing a mysql connection error. Rebooting the server allows access for a very short time then the error re-occurs.

I'm not a developer and have no idea where to start, so could someone point me to possible things that may have changed so I can start looking?

Thanks

Sorted. It was a Windows update that caused the issue. We've removed the update and all working fine now. Time to update the site to v3 and server package to the latest!

Yeah I know! It's a client's site and they haven't paid for any support and maintenance since 2015 so it's never been done, or even looked at!
