Akeeba Backup won't install

Post by jworms » Tue Mar 10, 2020 10:45 am

Hi There

I'm new to Joomla, but I'm looking after a pre-existing site that was built by a web developer for my Dad. I'm trying to make a backup before I update to Joomla 2.5.28, using AkeebaBackup. But the upload of the AkeebaBackup .zip file to the Joomla Extensions Manager fails every time. I'm just following the instructions from the Akeeba site, so I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Is anyone able to shed any light on this?

Thanks for your help

Jack

Do you have the correct version of Akeeba for your joomla version. If you are going to update to 2.5.28 would suggest that you are not on Joomla3.x.x,this is Joomla 3 forum.

When the upload fails, what is the error message? Does the website allow files over 2MB to be uploaded?

The size of Akeeba Backup v4.7.7, which you likely need, is just under 3MB.

Check the following directives, found from System - System Information - PHP Information in the column 'Local Value':

post_max_size
upload_max_filesize

The value of the above directives in php.ini should be 32M, in preparation for the upgrade to Joomla 3.9 and beyond.
