Installing Jquery on Joomla

Trying to install last version Jquery on Joomla! 2.5.4 I faced with an error.
It wrote: JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find XML setup file
What does it mean?

What does it mean?
It means you're using a 10 year out of date version of Joomla. Even for 2.5.x, the latest is 2.5.28 (support ended 8 years ago).

What exactly are you trying to install - Joomla already uses JQuery. It sounds like you're trying to install the JQuery zip package through Joomla's extension manager? That won't work if its not an extension (hence the "cannot find XML file" error). I would expect that getting Joomla updated to a current version (3.9.28) would get JQuery updated as well.

Not true. J! 2.5 installed Mootools by default. See https://docs.joomla.org/Adding_JavaScript. The simplest solution, recommended years ago, is to update to J! 3.[/i].

I knew it used some sort of Javascript library thingy-whatsit. Anyway, it's unclear by the OP how he tried to install JQuery.
