.I am editing a website for a friend of mine....The issues also include....when I installed a template called Simply...I dont get the full details as screen shot...

This is what the actual link looks like

The steps

1. I uploaded and installed a template ' Simple Design' I made this the default...

I am using Joomla 1.6..btw

2. I noticed that the 'features' did not display as screen shot.. for example.. when I select the MENU when viewing the site online...the Menu 'does not scroll' and remains static.... I have tried Menu and Modules..

Joomla 1.6?

Not sure if I understand your problem correctly, but maybe...
The error message says that on the hompage featured articles should appear but either the articles or the categories are unpublished.

Is the template you installed compatible with Joomla 1.6?
That version is serious outdated and if the template is for, version 3 for example, it will probably not work properly in 1.6.
