joomla site overloading server

Hello,

I am using the joomla 2.5 hosted with dedicated server delicately. I always
found the index page of my website is causing server load and eating up cpu
resources. id there any reported issue with version of any help always
appreciated.

Have you checked your slow query log under /var/lib/mysql? Which queries does it have?

A good idea would be to clear the slow query log under (by issuing "> slow.log" in ssh under /var/lib/mysql) and then load the homepage and see which queries are being recorded.

By the way, if you're only having problems with the homepage, then most likely the issue is caused by a module that is only assigned to the homepage.
