Joomla 1.6 scalability

Post by bulcanan » Thu Mar 24, 2011 10:38 pm

Hi Everyone,

I have the following hardware and would like to deploy a highly scalable joomla 1.6 website on eem.

(1) Apple Xserve G5 cluster node - 2.3 GHz PowerPC 970 8GB 0f Ram 1TB hd *Leopard Server 10.5.8
(3) Apple Xserve G5 - 2.3 GHz PowerPC 970 8GB 0f Ram 1.8TB hd *Leopard Server 10.5.8
(1) Apple Intel Xserve 32 Gb Ram 1.8TB HD Snow Leopard Server 10.6
(1) Dell PowerEdge 2850 Dual Xeon 3.6GHz 8Gb Ram 2x32GB 10k and 4x146GB 15K drives * CentOS 5.4
(2) Cisco catalyst 24 port switches
(2) Firebox (presupposed with pfsense and m0n0wall)
(2) Gateway GM 5442 *CentOS 5.4 sitting around

I have worked with Joomla over the years (paid my way thru college doing Joomla sites) on hosted sites but never deployed it on multiple Servers. Could someone point me to some resources that could help me accomplish this task?

Thanking you all.

I would say Joomla is not very scalable out of the box. To make it scalable you will have to do some php hacking in core joomla files. If you really need a scalable solution then write php scripts yourself. If you still prefer Joomla, maybe this can help:
