loading slow - first byte time 60 sec

Hi,

on my site there is the extension "wgpicasa" but the page loads very very slow (over 60 seconds!)...

my url is:

I tested it: http://www.webpagetest.org/result/120917_T1_51T/ and there is a "first byte time" over 60 sec!

Has anyone a idea what the problem is?

I tested also with "slideshowfx" - but there is the same issue.

You will try to enabling the cache plugin it will reduce the first time byte. But First time byte will not improve the page score mostly.

maybe you should check your internet connection first, or maybe you should enabling your chache plugin and see it work or not to your site.

Hi, I tested the home page of your site and these are something you must check:
1- Your home page is too heavy. it is more than 2 mega bytes. the normal site must be under 800 kilo byte. so check these items:
* you have 68 external Javascript in your page! what are you doing? is this JS company?
* 22 external stylesheets!!! You must have maximum 5 css files.
* you have 15 background images! but your page is grey. remove unnecessary background or combine them into one strip.

2- Browser caching is not fully enable in your site!
3- You didn't specified images dimensions in your site.
4- The gzip is not activeted in your joomla. try enable it and add some code to your .htaccess file to fully gzip .css and .js files.
5- Your site is looking for more than 4 site to loading data. remove some of them.

I think if you correct these items, you site will loads very faster.

Sorry to revive this old thread, but I'm having a similar problem to yours it's taking too long to load the first byte on my Joomla website and I have tried pretty much everything I can think of with no success.

I have noticed that your website is loading really fast now, would you mind telling me how you solved the issue?
