Website + Joomla speed issues

Post by paktofu » Fri Aug 16, 2013 6:41 am

Hello,

I am not a trained web designer whatsoever but I had little choice in making this website. Anyways I feel that I must be missing something or did something completely wrong when making this site for it to go so slowly. Can someone please let me know how I could fix this issue?

I would edit things in the backend for maybe 20 minutes and eventually the page will stop sending back data and I am stucking waiting for 5 minutes or so before I get response again, it's getting really frustrating to make changes online.

The thing that makes me wonder though is why it is even slow to load up in the back-end.

I am using Godaddy as host.

The website is : http://warmheartworldwide.org/

Thank you!

It loads ok for me apart from the home page. It looks like your large images are all PNG files which means they are mostly 500kb +. Change them all to JPG and you should notice a difference.

lazydude is right, your homepage is over 6MB! You must optimize your images prior to adding them to your site. Resize and compress them using a photo program will help immensely. Lots of free programs for this.

Backend is most likely your hosting server. Either it's over sold or a misconfiguration, etc.

Here's an article explaining some ways to help the frontend. http://www.joomlaperformance.com/articl ... _3_14.html

Another - http://www.ijoomla.com/blog/5-ways-to-speed-up-joomla

Gzip and turning on the System Cache plugin will help once you optimize those images. You will have to clear the Joomla cache each time you make a change if you turn on the system cache plugin. Or use an extension. I have not had luck with the cache in Global Configuration, although I have not tried it since Joomla 3 came out.

Try to use Gzip and Cache queries in your .htaccess file. You may find dozens of examples in the web. I think this low performance problem are not related to Joomla. Rather some simple fixes to do as mentioned above.

If you are using a godaddy hosting you can enable google pagespeed module which will compress, resize and convert images for you.

You are not using Joomla.
You are using Drupal 7 so you'd better ask your question at a Drupal forum.

The most important task is to eliminate duplicated or unnecessary queries/plugins/modules/components => Use Firefox with Firebug extension to check the duplication of queries
Secondly, check your speed of server band. If it's low, you should replace it with another higher speed of server band
Moreover, it may be caused your template. If your site use a lot of flashes or videos, you should use them as less as possible
User banned for hard self promotion.

You can go on Google and look up PageSpeed Tools from Google Developers.
This online tool will give you some suggestions how to improve your page speed and its free even for your Drupal site.
