override search problem

Post by christoforosKor » Tue Aug 28, 2012 10:23 am

Hi,
I am trying to use search value/constant function on the override section of language manager but it seems like it is not working.
I am searching for the term "Αποστολή μηνύματος" which is the value for "Send Email" in Hellenic language.
But depending on the browser I am using, I either get an error, on the field "Language Constant" at the left, that says the is "Field is required" (firefox, opera, chrome) or it returns me back to listing with the available installed languages for the site (ie8, safari).

I am using Joomla 2.5.6, and installed language are English, Hellenic.

Is there something I have to setup before using this feature ?

thanks in advance for your time.

Welcome to Joomla forum!

From your description it looks like all non-ASCII is filtered out (hence an empty form field and therefore the "Field is required" error).

Could you try the following workaround:
Could you try searching for the English language constant "Send Email"?
Let's assume it's SEND_EMAIL: could you search on that language constant in the Greek language to find the value for it, and change it with the override you want? Will it work like that?

The overrides search finds any constant or value.
One has to be careful to choose the correct language and folder in the dropdown before clicking on New.

thanks you all for your answers it seemed that I was not selecting the correct language on the drop down.
I know it's a bit late my answer but I leave it here as an example for someone having the same problem
