How to remove /item/ from k2's urls?
I used K2 and joomla1.7 to create website. When i turned on SEF,it generated the urls as http://www.mysite.com/dir1/dir2/(dir3)/item/xxxx .There are 3 or 4 directory in urls with are not friendly for Search Engine. So I want to remove /item/ from urls.
For example:
http://www.nanadeals.com/accessories-apparel/jewelry/item/3-05ct-black-diamond-ropework-right-hand-ring-only-99-with-discount-code
to
http://www.nanadeals.com/accessories-apparel/jewelry/3-05ct-black-diamond-ropework-right-hand-ring-only-99-with-discount-code
BTW:I wouldn't like to use SEF extensions, they didn't run well at multilanguage website.
Could anyone tell me how to do?please help.
Many thanks!!

Re: How to remove /item/ from urls?
Dear drlovecat
Thanks for your answer.
Yesterday,I tried to point K2 blog ,category and list type to main menu. But it still has "item" in the urls of K2 that just like the article at nanadeals.com/accessories-apparel/shoes.
Would you like to let me know how to do correctly?
Thanks a lot.

Re: How to remove /item/ from k2's urls?
That does not work.
If you don't have a lot of items then create a menu entry for each, that will remove the ITEM. BUT... if you have a lot of items clearly creating a static menu link is not viable (as with me).
Also look for a solution but even the K2 forums don't have the answer and it is generated by the core Joomla SEF.

Re: How to remove /item/ from k2's urls?
Yes, create a menu link to the K2 item like I did on this page http://www.southafricanshop.net/biltong/biltong, see menu on left with link to the item "biltong" thus giving me a clean URL

Re: How to remove /item/ from k2's urls?
so do I and I only picked the most popular or those who I want the SEO to be better on... for starters as I have over 1000 items would not be funny having to add every single one of them.

You can remove item from URL in Joomla! 3
Login into Joomla! 3 Administration Console
Click on Components>>K2
Click on Parameters

Re: How to remove /item/ from k2's urls?
Wow, thank you guys for posting the fix. Only took me 10 seconds on google to come across this thread...
Was having the same problem... ...com/brokerage/item/6-name in the URL, but following the steps above, It now looks much better.
See http://nautorswanusaeast.com/dev/brokerage when you hover over a boat, the URL's are much better!!

Re: How to remove /item/ from k2's urls?
Hi there, it's not a Joomla!3 only solution, it's a K2 solution.
It worked for me on Joomla!2.5 and latest K2
