403 errors after editing once, cookies might be the cause?

On the front end when logged in as Super Admin I can edit an article once, but when I try again I get an error;

403 - You are not permitted to use that link to directly access that page

If I delete browser cookies while logged in I can then edit the story again. I notice that I am only prompted with a cookie when I log out but not in (I set IE to prompt for all cookies). Is that normal? I am using IE 9 (win7) but also got this issue in Chrome.

In firefox it is logging me out when I try to re-edit the story.

Anyone know what might be going on?

Further testing has shown that turning off URL rewriting in the global configuration stops this issue happening (but this isn't so good for our SEF URLS!!).

Does anyone have some advice or things to try on the server and maybe in .htaccess to troubleshoot this? I have tried various things with no luck.

I'm having the exact same issue. I'm using 2.5.7. It is happening when trying to edit from the front and back end.

No I haven't fixed it yet. I have just disabled URL rewriting for the moment. Would love a solution.
