In your place I would first send a message to the authors of similar websites asking them to exchange links or banners. You can also add your page to a few directories. Better a small amount of webdirectories where you will add link, but those should be good quality catalogues.

You have to make sure that you optimize:

1. All of your content pages
2. All menus
3. Site description through Global configuration settings

Another important thing to keep in mind is that if you don't use the right keywords when optimizing your site, it won't do you much good.

Hope this helps.

I use Xmap to create sitemap.
I don't know exactly what you did to SEO your website so it's difficult to give the advice. But I think you should check out these sources. I've bookmarked them and I think they're helpful for you

The #1 seo factor is backlinks. Links from social sites won't help your rankings, because they are nofollow. So you need quality backlinks from good websites in your specific niche.

The best ways I have found are:
1) Write guestposts on blogs and websites in your niche.
2) Do an infographics with the best content on some aspect of your niche.

Code: Select all

is an example of a good infographic from a website that sells used computers. It shows facts about recycling of computers. This is the kind of content people want to links to, but be sure to contact bloggers etc. and ask them if they like it, and see if you can convince them to post it - they wont find it without you sending it directly to them :)

Unfortunately, you're a bit far behind if you're still messing with your sitemap.

Google traffic involves a process like this:

- Start a blog or publish pages of content
- Do keyword research to find relatively non-competitive keywords
- Create and publish content that's optimized around those keywords
- Get some social signals (although this isn't a huge factor)
- Build links to that piece of content until it ranks

However, this is a long term strategy. Expect to rank 2-6 months after you publish your content. Even then, you usually need to publish more content and build more links before Google starts ranking you for long-tails. That's when your traffic really picks up.

In between link building, I suggest focusing on promotion tactics that don't involve Google. There's a ton to choose from but these articles should help you out:

Code: Select all

An excellent traffic case study from Brian Dean -- http://backlinko.com/viral-marketing
21 free ways to drive traffic (mainly social media and communities) -- http://copytactics.com/increase-free-website-traffic
Case study of using BuzzBundle to promote content -- http://www.matthewwoodward.co.uk/reviews/buzzbundle-review-how-i-drive-traffic-to-my-blog/
That should get you on the right foot. If you want to learn a lot more about white hat SEO strategies read more of Brian Dean's content.

Good luck!
