Glyphicons in a bootstrap menu

How do I attach glyphicons in a bootstrap menu? Not images, that's easy enough to do.

I tried Link CSS Style in the Link Type Options on the menu items, but that doesn't work. The glyphicon shows up after the menu item, not in front.

And related to this problem: how do I set the glyphicon to show up in the correct color? I use white for the links, so the link should be something like icon-home icon-white. When visited, the color is black; the visited icon should be icon-home only. Is this possible? I've seen sites where this works, but I don't know how to do it.

If you are using bootstrap 3 then change font color.
Glyphicons' color should change.

I ended up inserting them with jQuery:

Code: Select all

$(".item-101 a").prepend("<i class='glyphicon glyphicon-home'></i>&nbsp;");
