Positions not appear in the module manager

Post by irmagine » Mon Apr 06, 2015 7:30 am

Hi there,
I am creating i new template. I can not understand what I made wrong or probably forgot to do.
I added all positions in templateDetails.xml file, added the j:doc include commands to the index.php and also described all the div in the template.css. Now, they should appear in the module manager in the position list. But there is no one of the position I added.
Below the descriptions I added:
<positions>
<position>nav_sport_e1</position>
<position>sportnews</position>
<position>bildleiste</position>
<position>suche</position>
<position>nav_sport_e2</position>
<position>wunschmodule</position>
<position>nav_pfad</position>
</positions>

<!-- ****** HAUPTTEIL ****** -->
<div id="hauptteil">

<!-- *** Spalte Links *** -->
<div id="spalte_links">
<div id="suche"><jdoc:include type="modules" name="suche" /></div>

<?php if ($this->countModules('nav_sport_e2')): ?>
<div id="sportmenue_e2"><jdoc:include type="modules" name="nav_sport_e2" style="xhtml" /></div>
<?php endif; ?>

<div id="wunschmodule"><jdoc:include type="modules" name="wunschmodule" style="xhtml" /></div>
<br />
<jdoc:include type="modules" name="kerstin" />
</div>

<!-- **** Spalte Rechts **** -->
<div id="spalte_rechts">
<div id="pfad"><jdoc:include type="modules" name="nav_pfad" /></div>
<div id="inhalte"><jdoc:include type="component" /></div>
</div>

</div>
<br/>&nbsp;
</div>

Many many thanks for help,
Immy

Try the following:

- Clear your Joomla cache
- Ensure that the modules that you are assigning to these positions are actually returning something. Some modules do not display anything at all when there is nothing to display (others display a message that there is nothing to display).

Note that adding the positions to the XML file is an excellent practice, but it's not necessary to assign modules to those positions. The most important thing is to add the positions to the index.php template file.

I cleared cache. Better said, there was nothing to clean (no positions to delete).
Before I installed the template to joomla! in index.php file there were lines of placeholders:
<div id="suche">Placeholder: Search</div> than, the text for placeholder, I replaced with
<div id="suche"><jdoc:include type="modules" name="suche" /></div>
In website I still see the placeholders and everything what I saw before http://sportsfreunde.virtual-accountant.ch/joomla
I've no idea, what's wrong :((
