Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 60 seconds exceeded

I am trying to install a component file (preachit) to Joomla!1.6 on a localhost and I keep getting this message:

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 60 seconds exceeded in E:\xampp\htdocs\joomla15\libraries\joomla\filesystem\file.php on line 304
sometimes there are other files listed like stream.php

need help! very little experience :-[

Does the Extension support Joomla! 1.6 or is it a J!1.5 extension?

Talking to the developer would probably be a good idea.

extensions correct 1.6
redirected to C:\ for localhost
much faster
