Fatal error after upgrade 2.5.16

Post by pakopako » Mon Nov 11, 2013 1:20 pm

After the update from 2.5.14 to 2.5.16 I get a Fatal Error when selected Special Articles (in backend):
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class ContentModelArticles in /site/administrator/components/com_content/models/articles.php on line 308
There's no display of the Special articles, just the error.

Who can help, please?

See article.txt file (=php) attachement.

There is an empty space after the 308th line. Make sure that "}" is the last symbol in the file. Then try accessing the page again.

Removed the empty space and checked that "}" is the last symbol in the file. Unfortunately same result... :-(

I am getting this too on a 2.5.16 and a 3.2 site now. Seems the upgrade has done something.

Anyone have any ideas where to start looking for the answer?

I've been messing around with some sites and it's not happening on all of them. Must be a extension causing it. I am trying to use some test sites to see.

So far I noticed that the upgrades all have 2 FOF entries in the extension manager.

3.1.15
FOF Site Library revC1A6D5A-1378494129 2013-09-06 Nicholas K. Dionysopoulos / Akeeba Ltd N/A 10111

I just installed a fresh 3.2.0 and only one FOF entry is there and featured articles is working.

@DaveOzric
Is it possible to remove one FOF in the attacked site? Or is a fresh install the only solution?

I don't think this is the problem. I did a test starting from a install of 2.5.14 then upgraded to 3.1 then 3.2 and have 2 versions of the FOF and no error message on the featured articles admin page.

Guess the search continues. The upgrade process seems to have many issues with 3rd party components installed. So far I have yet to upgrade any site from 2.5 to 3 without some major issue.

I am now having this on a 2.5.14 site. I need to check some extensions, I just updated XMAP so that will be the first one I check.

What 3rd party extensions do you have installed?

ACL Manager, Acymailing, Akeeba Backup, Akeeba Admin tools, JSN Imageshow Pro, Flip Wall, JA Comment, JCE Editor, Jevents, K2 (not in use), Kunena, Mijopolls, Nonumber Slides, NoNumber Tooltips, Nonumber extension manager, Nonumber advanced module manager, Xmap

Flip Wall was the last installed. I've de-installed Flip Wall... no result.

I have ACL, Acymailing, Admin Tools, JCE, Nonumber and Xmap. Probably one of these.

I will say my 2.5 sites don't upgrade to 3.x without uninstalling Nonumbers first.

It's looking like the newest version of ACL Manager might be the problem. Can you uninstall it and see? I removed it and the error page stopped and then installed the previous version and it was fine. Then I updated to the newest version of ACL and it started showing the error page.

I will send Sander (dev. of ACL) a email to read this topic.

Thanks for your help!!

I did contact him. He is at a convention so may not be able to fix it right away.

Excellent thread here. I just started seeing the same error message when I tried to access Featured Articles from the backend of Joomla 2.5.16. I uninstalled ACL Manager 2.4.1 and no longer get the message! I won't ping Sander since DaveOzric already has sent him a notice.

I wasn't able to get to the Featured Articles via the menu in the backend, but I could open the featured articles via the Articles Manager. Other than that, it's been a backend issue only for me. Have not yet checked it on my Joomla 3.2 sites.

Thank you for this excellent tidbit of information!

I re-installed ACL Manager 2.4 (previous version) and have no issues, so DaveOzric is correct - the latest version of ACL Mgr is the culprit.

Sander has been communicating with me and is aware and fixing the issue. He has instructed me that you can prevent the error by switching the setting "editable articles only" to off in the ACL Manager options for now.

Hi all,

Thanks for notifying me about this topic. I was indeed traveling after the Joomla World Conference, but now back in the office. I provided some of you already a beta version that fixed the issue, but I have released 2.4.2 stable now as well in which the issue is fixed: http://www.aclmanager.net/blog/releases ... 2-released

So if you update ACL Manager to this latest version you can re-enable the setting and it should work fine.

Thanks!

Hi Sander,
I have updated to the newest version ACL 2.4.2 but I still get the "Fatal Error" message.

Sorry, I cleared the Joomla cache but forgot to clear the browser cache. Everything is fine again with ACL 2.4.2.
