All Menu Links Display Home Page ?????
Hello.
I have been trying to Install Joomla 2.5. Installation goes fine, no errors and create default site with sample data. But none of the menu links go anywhere. When clicked, the home page just displays again. I looked at the on line demo and see they are supposed to go to different content. I tried reinstalling 1.7 and have the same thing.
I turned off Output_Buffering in php.ini
I am on Windows Server 2003 Web Edition with IIS 6.0
Any Ideas ?

Go check if you actually have any modules positioned on the site. The "demo" and "preview" images simply display what the site could look like, but you still have to design it with modules after installation.

Thier are three pages of modules installed. I did the default install plus sampple data. The admin screens work fine and everything looks setup right and the link show new paths, they just never display. It is not just an image.

Re: All Menu Links Display Home Page ?????
Yeah I know that, however you have to assign the modules to actual positions on your site.
Picture having a new television, a tv comes with a network of channels that you ordered most likely.
However, even with 100+ channels, you can't watch them until your tv is turned on. This is a little analogy that relates to your problem.
You need to have your modules turned on in this case, or else having them all installed will simply leave them placed in the backend with no-where to go.

Re: All Menu Links Display Home Page ?????
I read the Absolute Beginner's Guide to Joomla
When you install the sample data it is just supposed to work and everything linked up and modules turned on and placed and they were.
I just installed 1.5 with the sample data and everything work fine. Click links, go to pages.
1.7 and 2.5 went no where with the sample data installed. Every link i clicked just redisplayed the home page
Any ideas ?

@rhsmitty
Sounds like you simply need to update your menus then? If everything is linking to the home page, that can be changed easily from the backend can't it?

The menus are all specifying different content, They are just not displaying when clicked. I can see the page refresh but never goes to destination. Seems to be issue with 1.7/2.5 in my enviroment. 1.5 Works fine

Yes that is correct. It is currently installed on a private site with 1.5 and that is working fine so I need to work with that for now. I will have to install 1.7/2.5 on one of my public sites

Could that internal IP be badly configured so that 'All roads lead to Rome' ?rhsmitty wrote:.... It is running on a private internal IP.

Well 1.5 work fine on that IP. I just reinstalled 2.5 fresh on a public website and it still acts the same. Used a quick install pack from JoomShaper.com. I am having the same problem. Just installed version 2.5 on local machine. All links indicate correct articles, but when I click on them, they all display only the homepage article and not the actual article. Any ideas?

Re: All Menu Links Display Home Page ?????
hmm..same thing here. Reinstalled everything, the problem isn't here.
I have URL Rewriter installed, and have renamed web.config correct.
On Wordpress the web.config work's, so the problem isn't here either.
I guess I'm going to just switch from IIS to managed linux web hosting...

Re: All Menu Links Display Home Page ?????
Just seen this thread for the for the first time today, immediately struck me that your server does not meet the minimum technical requirements for Joomla! after Joomla 1.5.rhsmitty wrote:Hello.

The minimum requirement is IIS 7.
As for anyone else that has posted unhelpful "...ME TOO" posts without any other supporting information or explanation the same would apply to you and/or your hosts.

Re: All Menu Links Display Home Page ?????
Try to turn off SEF/SEO in Global Configuration.
Why is Joomla installed in the folder BA and not the web root?
Have you renamed webconfig.txt to web.config?
Make sure the IIS server are at least on version 7

Re: All Menu Links Display Home Page ?????
I've just done my second install of 2.5 on two domains on the same public IIS server. The first installation works excellently. The second installation does not. I've created articles, properly linked them to menus, but clicking on the menus does nothing but refresh the home page.
I've deleted everything and reinstalled. I've looked for config differences between the two domains, no differences. I'm stuck.
