IIS Installation with MySQL and PHP - Support and links.

Post by humvee » Wed May 02, 2012 9:43 pm

Introduction
As there are still limited numbers of sites utilising Microsoft IIS based servers for hosting in comparison to those using Apache, there is also an absence of "expert" support for those experiencing issues.

One way we hope to counter this is to provide snippets of information taken from actual threads where the solutions are validated and shown to work.

If you identify such a thread or if you encounter a reputable external source of information that others might benefit from, please post a new thread and start its title with IIS HELPER.

For the technical requirements for Joomla! 1.6, 1,7. and 2.5.x see: http://docs.joomla.org/Joomla_1.6_techn ... quirements
Please check your server meets these minimum requirements or better.

5. Extensions using IIS and MSSQL

Although this thread is primarily about the IIS server, a very valid point has just been brought to my attention...

Whilst Joomla! core has now been modified to be work with a number of different database types other than just MySQL, not all 2.5 extension developers have yet gone down this route.

It seems there only a few extensions (so far that I am aware of from the feedback) that clearly come with cross database support "out-of-the-box". (thanks to plastersan for the highlight of this.)

As identified above IIS6 does not meet the Technical Requirements of Joomla! 2.5.x.
Have you considered installing Apache alongside IIS6 if you must keep it or installing it instead of IIS6.

Roughly 70% of the Web sites in the world run on Apache (usually for a very good reason!!)
