Hi !
I've been trying to re-install new Joomla v2.5.6 for my website. (localhost)
and there is an error message that reads "Could not connect to the database. Connector returned number: Unable to connect to the Database: JLIB_DATABASE_ERROR_CONNECT_SQLSRV"
So, I created new database name in http://localhost/phpmyadmin, but the problem has not been solved yet.

Thank you for your kind assistance in advance.

You are trying to connect to SQL Server. You have to connect to MySQL Server.

Choose the appropriate option in the Database Type.

Do not provide any password as the username root does not have a password unless you have changed it.

Thank you for your quick reply. I tried MySQL server too but still having same result.

NOTE : Because of my office using only SQL Server,so I have to choose it.

What is your operating environment?

Are you using any software such as XAMPP or WAMP Server?

In the initial screen of the install, does it show that MySQL Server is there?

Which version of IIS and MSSQL are you using?

Joomla 2.5.6 is not compatible with, developed for or tested on IIS6.

See the notes at the start of this forum for further information and links.

[Mod note: Moved from Installation Forum to IIS Installation Forum;]

If this is IIS7 and compatible MSSQL or above then also check with the administrator that the hostname, name, username, and password are all correct and the user has the appropriate permissions.
