[Mod note: Moved from General Forum to IIS Installation Forum; Please read Which forum to post your question]

Is this a localhost installation?
Is this a remote host installation?
Are you stating the error occurs at Step 4 of the Joomla Installation or simply that you cannot install MySQL? Or MSSQL?
What is your OS?
Are you using IIS or Apache server in your reference to the web platform installer?
Read the Forum Rules for information on how to post your questions.
Please run the Forum Post Assistant to provide the information to help us try and resolve the issue.
Please follow the instructions in the post and the program pack closely

Amazing what a simple Google search can reveal http://forums.mysql.com/read.php?11,39440,39440

Are you entering a password when none is required?
Or did you specifically create a MySQL root password when installing MySQL

With regard IIS I did ask for clarification as to which version!
