Directing to /index.php

Post by 1belle » Mon Sep 17, 2012 6:02 pm

I have a domain whenever I enter the URL (http://www.mysite.com) it doesn't directly show the http://mysite.com/index.php (where it's completely working) instead it shows:

Not Found
The requested document was not found on this server.

I've tried a couple of suggestions here regarding URL Rewrite but nothing's working. I have Windows server and whenever I change the web.config.txt to web.config it shows an error
Server Error
500 - Internal server error.
There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.

I've also tweaked the .htaccess file for a long time but still nothing.

I have no clue on how to install the IIS URL Rewrite Module, I've contacted my host months ago about it and still I haven't heard a single word from them..

Currently I have SEF Urls turned OFF and it seems to be a temporary solution to the redirection of the URL to index.php but still I'd like it if I have both SEF and URL Rewrite to be both working...

Mod. Note: Relocated the topic to the Installation on IIS server forum.

You have to set index.php as a default file on the web server. Probably it only have default.asp.

Use the Forum Post Assistant to post info about your server. http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=621&t=582860

I have already set up index.php as the default file following this direction here

But it still shows the Not Found error whenever I type in my domain URL.

Well follow the previous advice by PYB and complete the FPA please! Which version of IIS are you using? Joomla 2.5.x is not compatible with IIS 6.

Otherwise suggest reading up on the web.config in detail at Microsoft.
