Joomla sitting behind a proxy server

Post by PaulJ99 » Tue Feb 19, 2013 5:35 pm

Hi All,

I am totally new to joomla. I have Joomla 2.5.6 installed on a 2008R2 server running IIS7.5 and using MySQL, installed via Web Platform Installer.
I have the basic site up and running but I cant get any updates because it wont connect to the internet.
I need to know how and where to enter the proxy settings for our domain proxy server.
Can any one help me with a simple to follow guide.

Thanks in advance, Paul.

Mod. Note: Relocated the topic to the J2.5 on IIS server forum.

The updater uses the fopen() php function. Allow_url_fopen must be set in php.ini.
The proxy must be configured at the server. Consult the MS documentation.

Thanks for the reply.
Could it be the firewall that is stopping joomla updating. Do I need to open any ports for the site, mysql etc to access the internet?

If the server does not have direct access to the Internet, yes.

Check the server logs for information.
