Good afternoon,
I am working on a site at the moment which is a static html site (I believe) -http://www.fleetandcommercial.co.uk and I am planning on installing Joomla 2.5 to revamp the entire site and get it set up on CMS.
I am trying to create a new directory so I can start the site, however, whenever I try to create this I get the following error - "550 Can't create directory. Permission denied".
I am using FileZilla to FTP.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards,
Kevin

Re: 550 Permissions
Hi,
your permissions are not set correctly
You'll have to set your directories permissions to 755 and 644 for files, that is pretty much secure and will allow you to do what you need to do.
EDIT: If you really don't know what or how to do it, you can always install akeeba admi tools and let it do all the work http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... tion/14087
Free version is limited, but will help you with your permissions issue and some other security issues, it's cool extension

Re: 550 Permissions
Many thanks for your response.
I opened FileZilla and right clicked the remote site '/' and changed the file attributes to 755 (and applied to other directories).
This ran through but when I tried to create a new directory the same 550 error came up. I then checked permissions of the root and it had gone back to the original settings.
