500 - An error has occurred Extension record not found in DB

Post by freshlemonjen » Sun Feb 06, 2011 2:18 am

I am having trouble editing the css/beez5.css. Just a week ago I was able to edit this file and save changes succesfully. Now, when I edit something (anything), I get this error 500 - An error has occured. Extension record not found in database.

I have looked through the forum for answers, but they don't seem to provide me with a solution. So I am hoping someone will read this and is able to give some answers.

I would like to edit this particular file to display my preferred link and heading colours and fonts.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

chmod 775 all the css files resolves the problem!

just use a ftp client to change the file permissions; the file is not writeable by joomla ... if you change that permission your problem is fixed ... good luck

Will do thanks. However, I seemed to be able to overwrite this file before. It all of a sudden stopped. Is this a Jommla 1.6 bug? I have found Joomla 1.6 great to install, but after using it a while I have detected a few flaws. Makes me want to go back to 1.5. Anyway, I will try your solution, thanks again for responding.

Make sure you check the .htaccess as well, and upload all files in ascII format.

I got the same problem. I did two things:
setting the "display_errors" in PHP in the server to "Off"
Using firefox, google chrome to log in to administrator. DO NOT USE IE 9.0
Try it

My Client has identical problem, however i'm unable to access server to test test the solution my self.

Anyone have any other ideas of what could cause this problem?

Having the same issue.
When I edit/save any of the template files (php or css) from within Template Manager in the admin area, they get saved with a different permission (0444 instead of 0644) that will no longer allow me to open those files from within Template Manager in Joomla admin area.
