I can't believe that the solution to this is as clunky as having to edit the css or language files! Joomla! can be so sophisticated on so many levels - there has to be a more simple method in the admin panel no?

I know this post is old, but searching for an answer I ended up here - don't know if that was possible then but now (with joomla 3.4.3) you can do this:

Code: Select all

$this->params->set('show_category_heading_title_text', 0);
in the default.php
You might not see the output line but there is a parameter it listens to, I found that in blog.php...

victord wrote:On j25 Go to Menu Manager»Choose the category Blog Menu you want to change»On the right click on Category Options»on Subcategory Levels choose None

It worked for me.
Thanks so much, this was all I needed to hide the word 'subcategories' and the category headings which were appearing at the bottom of my page, while still displaying all the items in all the subcategories. I thought I had tried all the settings!

The easy way in 3.6 is to look at the help - https://docs.joomla.org/Help36:Menus_Me ... egory_List. In the article, the setting you want to change is

Show Subcategories Text: (Use Global/Hide/Show) If show, the "Subcategories" will show as a subheading on the page. The subheading is usually dispayed inside the "H3" tag.
