DISABLE 'EDIT PROFILE' OPTION

Post by saltogym » Mon Aug 29, 2011 1:18 pm

The site I have designed for a Gymnastics Club has a private gallery.
There is one login/password for this gallery which will be issued to all of the users to allow them access to the photos.
The problem I have is that when the user logs in, their account information is displayed with a link to "Edit Profile" where they can change their password and registered e-mail address.
I want to completely remove this "Edit Profile" feature.

Can anyone explain how to do this please?

I am just using the standard pre-loaded login module.

Thanks.

You need to find the menu item called 'Edit Profile' and delete or disable it. That should remove it for all users logged in at the front end.

I have searched the menu directory and there is no item called "edit profile" or any items which it might be. There are only the menus I have running on the site.

Is there anywhere else this may be?

Just a thought, but are you using something else for the login, like community builder or jomsocial?

No I am using the standard login forms that come with the starter/demo site.

I just need to remove this 'edit profile' or alternatively prevent the login details page appearing.

Any help much appreciated.

p.s. thanks for the quick replies.

Sorry, but I'm stumped. The only 'edit profile' links I know of are generated either by menu items, or from profile screens, like on Community Builder. If it's not either of those, then I don't know what it is. Using the standard login forms, I don't get any edit profile links without adding them in as a menu item.
Sorry. I could have a look for you if you like?

Joe

I have attached a screenshot of the problem.

Does this make it any clearer?

Hi again, I found this post:http://www.cmsmind.com/joomla-enable-re ... n-profile/
He suggests changing the permissions in global configuration for registered users. Not sure if you've tried that, but it might work.

Guys, it's so simple. (This will only disable the Administrator Profile)

Open this file /administrator/components/com_admin/views/profile/tmpl/edit.php

and go to line number 51

echo JHtml::_('sliders.panel', JText::_($fieldset->label), $fieldset->name);

change to

//echo JHtml::_('sliders.panel', JText::_($fieldset->label), $fieldset->name);

// with two forward slash at the beginning of the above line will stop working that code.

if you want to do it RIGHT, you'd simply do a "com_users" template override, and remove that code nasirahamed mentioned from the edit.php file.

One of the most important ACL needed in the administration and you have to hack this in. Ridiculous...

That should be possible by the normal acl - Common Joomla!

I try to add this override (for the administration side) in Bluestork without success ?

administrator\templates\bluestork\html\com_admin\tmpl\edit.php

The “My Profile” is still available in the administration ?
