Custom HTML Module strips code - won't publish video player.

Post by alpinevp » Sun Sep 04, 2011 6:53 pm

I am trying to publish a JW Video player in a sidebar module position and the code keeps getting stripped away every time I save the mod. I have tried both types, javascript and object embed and the same thing happens. This is a J1.7 install using Camber. I have tried using RokPad, JCE, TinyMCE and the same thing happens. Is this a J1.7 issue or a RT issue? Is J1.7 capable, like 1.5.23, of displaying either below?

http://alpinefencecompany.com/new2

<script type='text/javascript' src='jwplayer.js'></script>
<div id='mediaspace'>This text will be replaced</div>
<script type='text/javascript'>
jwplayer('mediaspace').setup({
'flashplayer': 'player.swf',
'author': 'Scott Tuchman',
'description': 'Alpine Fence Teaser',
'duration': ':23',
'file': 'http://alpinefencecompany.com/new2/imag ... teaser.flv',
'image': 'http://alpinefencecompany.com/new2/imag ... easer1.jpg',
'volume': '40',
'autostart': 'true',
'controlbar': 'bottom',
'width': '470',
'height': '320'
});
</script>

OR

<object classid='clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000' width='470' height='320' id='single1' name='single1'>
<param name='movie' value='player.swf'>
<param name='allowfullscreen' value='true'>
<param name='allowscriptaccess' value='always'>
<param name='wmode' value='transparent'>
<param name='flashvars' value='author=Scott Tuchman&description=Alpine Fence Teaser&duration=:23&file=http://alpinefencecompany.com/new2/imag ... start=true'>
<embed
type='application/x-shockwave-flash'
id='single2'
name='single2'
src='player.swf'
width='470'
height='320'
bgcolor='undefined'
allowscriptaccess='always'
allowfullscreen='true'
wmode='transparent'
flashvars='author=Scott Tuchman&description=Alpine Fence Teaser&duration=:23&file=http://alpinefencecompany.com/new2/imag ... start=true'
/>
</object>

LOok for the plugin which corresponds to whatever editor you use, and tell it not to strip this kind of code. If it's the Tiny MCE editor, try any other one.

I have tried all of that to allow for js and object embed and nothing friggin happens. This has to be a 1.7 bug because I have tried it with all the editor and nothing works to get this video to appear. I know the code is correct!

Be sure that you have disabled the Text Filters for your User Group

Content->Article Manager->Options->Text Filters->set your user group to 'No Filtering'

Did that, the damn J1.7 just is not allowing any script or object to be accepted. This is just unacceptable.

.
The core Joomla Custom HTML module is pretty useless for the things users want to use it for such as players, etc.
Use one of the 3rd-party custom HTML modules which will not eat your code.

Here is your player code in the Custom HTML Advanced module:

In Joomla 2.5 - the text filters in under:

1. Site > Global Configuration
2. Click “Text Filters”
3. Set Super Users to “No Filtering”

Hi Robert,
I'm on 2.5 and have my config Super Users set to No Filtering. However, when I created my custom HTML module it's stripping script for a jump menu. The menu displays but there's no action so when I checked this script had been removed.

<script type="text/javascript">
function MM_jumpMenu(targ,selObj,restore){ //v3.0
eval(targ+".location='"+selObj.options[selObj.selectedIndex].value+"'");
if (restore) selObj.selectedIndex=0;
}
</script>

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
thanks

for those that might still have trouble with this - change your editor to "Editor - Code Mirror", enter the code in the module - save it and it should work. Once you change your editor to something else, don't open the module and save it, or the code will be stripped...only edit/save it using the code mirror.

I tried the Custom HTML Advanced and it works like a charm for similar issue. Thanks
