Cannot get recaptcha to display on registration form...

I have setup the public/private keys and when I test the registeration form, the recapthca does not appear and if I click "register" I get the following error message:

Empty solution not allow.

I have searched all over for this an have only found threads that are assoicated the JomSocial registeration form.

What have I missed or do I need to change to get this working?

I searched the web, and was not able to find anyone with a similar error message as yourself while using recaptcha with joomla. To confirm, you followed similar steps when setting up joomla 2.5 recaptcha?

I have tried all the templates that come with Joomla as well as some custom ones. I simply can't get the captcha to show up on the Contact Forms.

I've enabled the plugin and put in the codes.
I've enabled it in Global Configuration.
For the contact options, under the form tab I've selected Recatcha.

But if I got to a contact listing and selected a contact, then go to the contact for, it just shows "Captcha *" but there is no actual Captcha image displayed or a field to enter it into.

And if I try to submit it complains.

Have you by chance been able to make any progress on this issue? I seem to be having trouble with recaptcha as well myself. It first worked flawlessly, but now I my recaptcha form does not display at all and I get the Empty Solution not allowed error.

I have it appearing only when "Create New Account" "Forgotten Password" or "forgotten user name" is clicked.
I was expecting it to appear on the actual login form for any user existing or new.

Is it supposed to appear on the actual login form for existing users?

i think this problem occurs on Joomla 2.5.4 version...

I'm having the same problem. I stepped through the instruction three times, with two different set of keys. I also made the required changes in User Manager : Users | Options. Captcha did not appear, and when I attempt a perfectly valid registration, I get the message:

"Empty solution not allowed."

Edited to add: I've concluded that this is a 2.5.4 problem. 2.5.6 works fine.

Hi I had the same issue. Solved it by deleting the k2 component I installed.

I was having the same issue. reCaptcha was working everywhere but create user form. I have the k2 extension installed as well. To resolve this issue if you have k2 installed go into the k2 parameters and on the advanced tab under anti spam settings, put in your public and private keys here too and select yes for Enable reCaptcha on registration form...

I do believe that this issue may exist for other components involved in registration but K2 is the only one I can confirm at the moment.

I am getting the same problem but do not have K2 installed.

Joomla 2.5.9
reCaptcha keys set up
User Module option set to reCaptcha
Cloudbase 2 template (have the same issue with Beez and Atomic)
Have tried amending plugins/captcha/recaptcha/recaptch.php as recommended

Does anyone have any other ideas/solutions please?

Hhhmmm... same exact issue here... not using K2, Joomla 2.5.9 ... reCaptcha doesn't work at all...

Uninstalled K2 & recaptcha & areyouhuman both work fine.... bah thats not much of a fix, but the issue is in K2's court as far as i am concerned.

Lucky i do not need comments and such on this site..

Has there been any progress made on solving the issue where the Re-Captcha image is not working with Joomla!?

I've got Phoca Guestbook installed and had enabled Recaptcha in the security settings. The image shows up, alright... but on entering the code, the page just refreshes (clearing all the fields on the form) and gives a different code... no error message or anything. If I enter the code incorrectly I get

The Captcha code you have entered is wrong. Please, try it again

On the Joomla! registration form, all that shows up is the heading Captcha. I did an Inspect Element procedure on that section of the form where the image should appear and it shows:

Interestingly enough, the only place in the index.php file I could find any mention of captcha was under the section / *K2 stuff */ (#comments-form-captcha-holder). This shouldn't apply to my site (I don't think), as I haven't got K2 installed.

I'd love to investigate further but, as I'm not quite sure what I'm looking for, I'm gonna search for other captcha alternatives in the meantime... a drag, but a necessity. I just hope this information sheds some light in what's becoming a black hole. Still in love with Joomla!, though.

Just had a thought... can someone confirm if this specifically a Re-Captcha issue or is it just captcha facilities in general not working with Joomla!?

Now THAT would be a bummer!

I take it back! It ReCaptcha DOES work in Phoca Guestbook. I couldn't see the posts because... the back end was set for the administrator to approve the posts before they were published.

Don't worry.. I've already kicked myself!

Still leaves the issue regarding Joomla! forms, though...

Also, I dare not uninstall the plugin because it obviously came pre-loaded with Joomla!... well, I can't see that particular plugin in the extension directory. Come to think of it, I don't remember installing it, anyway.

I also tried Key Captcha, which also works on Phoca Guestbook... but not on the Joomla! registration form. In fact, it throws up a fatal error on submission:

Fatal error: Call to a member function checkAnswer() on a non-object in /home/******/public_html/libraries/cms/form/rule/captcha.php on line 52

I can't secure my forms. This is serious, guys!

So I went to Global Configuration and set the Captcha option to None... and, just to be sure, I went to User Manager>Options and disabled it there, too. The Captcha heading no longer shows on the registration page and I was able to make a successful registration... no security, but hey! It's a little light in what seemed like a pitch dark tunnel.

Gonna try ECC+ again in the morning; I like Key Captcha a lot, but it's way too much work for the user... just to register.

Right now, I'm bushed! Nite, y'all!

So I tried ECC+... it works with the login form but not the registration. I do remember seeing this in an earlier posting... no harm in finding out for yourself, I guess...

I had the same problem and generated a new key from Google and that solved my problem.

Hmmmm.... I did try that, but it didn't work... seems to work for some, but not others.
So I've disabled registration until the reported bug is fixed. I'm just a little worried about other projects I'll get where registration is a prerequisite.
