2.5.28: changing/modifying article fails field images doesn't have a default value

This is a rather old Joomla 2.5.28 installation, that I had to move to another vhost. Front-end seems ok, however trying to modify an existing article or insert a new one fails with the following error:

I've reuploaded the 2.5.28 files but I'm buffled here. Not an expert on Joomla/SQL, but it seems as though the image field is required, yet I don't have the plainest idea why the insert operation does not try to fill a value for it. It's not a problem with image alone too; I've modified in SQL the field to allow it to be null, then I receive this error for another field of the myprefix_content table...

Any help would be appreciated. I was about ready to start a migration to 3.x, but I'm stuck here.

When you say you had to move to another host, how did you do it?

Did you use akeeba?

I had to use an older site and database backup. It worked fine, but had to disable akeeba since there were some known security issues with it. I didn't try at the time to post an article or edit an existing one...

Hmm I suspect you're falling foul of some of the more global elements of mysql config being different between the target and the origin.

Have you looked through /etc/mysql/my.cnf and any of the files it references?

Look for inconsistencies.

Look at the output of this command in mysql:

Look at your table definitions and try setting default values where their absence is creating exceptions.

Best bet though is to go back and akeeba the site. I suspect that'll make the difference
